From clinical practice to PracForms

Heather Marie spent her career in the rooms that outcome measurement is meant to serve — first as a registered nurse, then as a clinical psychologist, working across private practice, hospitals and healthcare settings. She’s sat with the paperwork every practitioner knows: administering a measure, scoring it by hand, tracking it against the last three sessions, then translating all of it into a report a GP will actually read.

None of that work is wasted — good outcome data genuinely helps clients and practitioners alike. But Heather saw, session after session, how much of the value of that data got lost in the effort of producing it. The measure was rarely the problem. Everything around it was.

Heather has since retired from clinical practice. PracForms is where that time has gone instead — not stepping away from the problem, but finally having the space to solve it properly, rather than simply living with it the way she did for years as a solo practitioner.

She’s building it with Mike Merlin, a software engineer with more than 25 years designing systems that keep working reliably in the real world. Between them, the principle is simple: technology should carry the administrative weight, and leave the clinical judgement entirely where it belongs — with the practitioner.
